Pallet Wrap FAQs

blown pallet wrap handstretch film

Just about everybody who has ever walked into a warehouse knows that pallet wrap is a staple of any modern operation. Given its affordability and ease of use, this is no surprise. For those of you who may not already know, it provides a quick and easy way to keep lightweight goods safely secured onto pallets. An unwrapped pallet is an accident waiting to happen.

You probably also know that pallet wrap comes in many different gauges and colours. What is more confusing is the difference between ‘blown’ and ‘cast’ pallet wrap. These two types are made differently and have different properties, pros and cons.

Blown pallet wrap is created by blowing heated resin out vertically into a bubble. The bubble is then transformed into rolls while it is cooled by the surrounding air. Cast pallet wrap is created by feeding a sheet of heated resin along with a rolling path with chilled rollers. The cooling solidifies the film, and it is made into large rolls.

About now you’re probably thinking “that’s great, but what does that mean to me, the end user?” Well, I’ll tell you. It boils down to this:

Cast pallet wrap has a clear, glossy finish. This means that it is easier to read labels, barcodes through it. It also allows RFID and other scanning technology to be used without errors, so cast pallet wrap is an absolute must if anybody needs to read anything through your pallet wrap. Blown wrap, by comparison, is hazy and dull. Cast film unwinds much more quietly than blown. It is also easier to stretch and control the gauge with cast film.

So there you have it. As with most things, the better choice will depend upon your application.

If you’re feeling full-bottle on wraps and would like to order some, check out our range. If you still have questions, go ahead and drop us a line and one of our friendly staff will be delighted to help you.

Shipping that works for you

Shipping guarantee banner

Our list of delivery locations is always expanding, and so is the list of products that we offer. This can sometimes make pricing shipping difficult, as sending a filing cabinet interstate is very different to posting some labels down the road. When you arrive at the cart, our website will do its best to calculate a shipping fee that matches your order. However, the process is not perfect and sometimes the results can be… unexpected.

If this happens to you, let us know. Once we know what you would like to order and where it’s going, we will be able to arrange shipping for you manually and update the website so that next time the correct shipping fee will be calculated automatically.
